About Sports For Peace
Sports for Peace was first introduced at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in 2009. It was created to give athletes worldwide the opportunity to support the intrinsic values of sports, such as fairness, tolerance, and peace.
The initiative has been supported by legendary figures like Dr. Edwin Moses and Sergej Bubka, and has had notable patrons like Nelson Mandela, who supported children's education at Sports for Peace during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In 2012, the initiative honoured Muhammad Ali at the London Olympics, celebrating his core values and contributions to humanity and sports.
